I pay my bills once or twice during the month and during that time my actual balance and that which my bank shows online differ greatly. So, until those payments clear my account, I keep my actual balance in the app so I always know exactly how much money I truly have.
The next month I just delete the previous month's account and start again with my new post bills balance until it reconciles with my online account. You can set up a bunch of accounts, transfer money into them so you can save up for something, then uncheck the accout box so that you can see a total of what you have to actually spend for the month.

The best ledger app, in my experience. It handles every day transactions wonderfully. You can also set it to reflect auto bill pays, transfers from checking to credit cards, gift cards, etc. What the small icons represented wasn't obvious first, but play with the buttons and you'll get it. I check it against my checking account and it's never been off by more than a few pennies, and that may have been my fault.

The app needs the ability to store the names of payee's, so we can quickly add the name of a payee to the payee field. I couldn't find the ability to do this, so it appears it's not added.
